serial #3101, 15mm, 15" barrel with a bright near excellent bore that shows some scattered frosting. The in-the-white receiver, lower tang, bolt and barrel of this 1870 dated carbine are beginning to turn a dull gray patina with scattered oxidation staining and a few dings on the barrel. The brass triggerguard and buttplate appear mostly bright with scattered dings, scratches and oxidation stains. The walnut stock rates very good with an older added coat of varnish, scattered dings, abrasions, scratches and handling marks. The lower buttplate screw is mismatched but the remaining screws appear to be numbered "1", and the other visible numbered parts are matching to the receiver. The right side of the stock is marked "B/1876", the receiver has an issue date of 1871 and the buttplate is marked with a unit marking that reads "22. D/3. 53". A fine example of a hard-to-find Prussian carbine. (207879-263) {ANTIQUE} [Craig Brown Collection] (2000/4000) SOLD FOR $3,737.50
