serial #S178892, 44 Magnum, 5" barrel with an excellent bore. This four-screw pre-model 29 falls into the serial number range where several hundred 5" barrels were produced in 1958. This lovely revolver retains about 98% factory blue with light high edge wear and a turn ring on the recessed cylinder. The .500" target trigger and .500" target hammer retain robust case-hardened colors with a few light operational marks. The unmarked diamond checkered walnut factory "coke bottle" grips with silver S&W medallions rate very good to excellent exhibiting a few light handling marks and a small ding on the heel were both grip panels meet. The revolver features a factory white outline micro adjustable rear sight and red ramp front sight. Research will indicate this fine gun was shipped from the factory with the 5" barrel. Production of the 5" barreled pre-model 29's is very low and they are highly sought after by collectors and big bore revolver aficionados.
