50. U. S. Model 1911 Semi-Auto Pistol by Springfield Armory

serial #106164, 45 ACP, 5" Springfield Armory barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain about 80% original blue, actually appearing stronger under normal ambient light, the areas of loss toned to a smooth pewter gray and flaked brown patina. All of the appropriate parts are "S" marked: barrel, bushing, slide stop, trigger, firing pin stop, magazine catch, sear and disconnector, extractor, safety, grip safety and mainspring housing. The hammer is not "S" marked but is unquestionably of Springfield Armory manufacture, showing the very long, wide spur seen on these pistols with the appropriate checkering. The grips rate very good plus to excellent with much original varnish and only some very very minor flattening of a few of the points, the right grip with a couple dings in the lower diamond. A few of the stock screws show some light slot damage but this could easily be remedied, and there is a very light reassembly scratch on the left side of the frame. A very nice Springfield Armory folded-base lanyard loop magazine is included which shows an excellent muted two-tone blued and heat-treated finish. Overall a very nice, very correct, example which appears to be closer to a 90% gun under normal daylight. (38100-72) {C&R} [Walter "Walt" Rauch Collection] (2500/4000) SOLD FOR $4,887.50
