serial #C121224, 45 ACP, 5" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain about 98% original blue showing light fading to gray and brown flaking on the frontstrap with a bit of high edge and contact point wear. There are a number of small dings and impact marks on the slide in the area of the muzzle and a few very sparsely scattered very light handling marks here or there, the left side of the frame showing a very light reassembly scratch which barely breeches the blue. The diamond checkered walnut grips rate about excellent showing nearly all their original varnish but with a couple of dings or scratches within the diamonds around the stock screws, the right grip with a few compressed points. Included is an unmarked two-tone magazine which rates about excellent. Inspection of the frame reveals this to be a First World War-machined frame with the "heart-shaped" grip frame milling, no doubt rejected or not-yet inspected, after cancellation of the government contract, held-over for sale as a commercial pistol. Overall a very handsome example in a very fine state of condition. (38100-69) {C&R} [Walter "Walt" Rauch Collection] (3500/5000) SOLD FOR $3,162.50
