serial #8497/9171, 256 Jeffery (6.5x53R), 25" barrel with a bright very good plus to near excellent bore. The metal surfaces of the Steyr 1899 barreled action retain 98% excellent quality later rust blue, the actions races nicely honed bright. The barrel is maker marked to the rear of the sight showing the 13 King St. address. The magazine has toned to a plum patina with the trigger showing pale straw temper. The bolt body retains a similar amount of blue with a nice turned down handle and the word "safe" inlaid in gold. The rifle is stocked classic style in English walnut with a horn forend tip and hard rubber pistolgrip cap. It rates very good over all showing some added finish, which has crazed slightly on the right side of the butt due to contact with some contaminant or solvent, it would be very easy to rectify; there is the very beginning of a very tiny crack to the rear of the tang, it is inconsequential. The length of pull to the blued steel trapdoor buttplate is 14 3/8". There are detachable swivel studs present and the rifle is sighted with a hooded banded sporting front and three folding leaf rear sight. Included with the arm are two stripper clips for ease of loading and function. A very nicely executed Mannlicher sporter in a high-performance caliber that will perform well for nearly all North American big game. (38176-1) {C&R} (1000/1500) SOLD FOR $3,450.00
