serial #96804, 45 ACP / AR, 5 1/2" pinned barrel with an excellent bore. This 1918 made revolver is British proofed and retains about 97% factory blue with scattered light freckling, oxidation blemishes, a few minor dings, scratches and a turn ring on the cylinder. The standard hammer, standard trigger and lanyard loop retain bold case-hardened colors with light operational wear plus dents and dings on the lanyard loop. The unmarked smooth walnut factory grips have been lightly sanded and oil finished and currently rate about good with light dents, dings and scratches; the refinish left the metal proud in some areas. The right side of the barrel, cylinder chambers and frame are marked with British proofs; the frame is also marked "NOT ENGLISH MAKE". All the U.S. markings are present and crisp including the ordnance bomb, various "[eagle] / S" inspection marks and U.S. property marking. All parts are correctly numbered to the gun but the cylinder and ejector rod are a matching replacement that were renumbered to the current serial number. There are no factory rework marks present and the work was probably performed at a British arsenal. Only several thousand 1917s were sent to England during the great war (Pistols of World War I by Robert J. Adamek) and are not commonly encountered.
