647. Sharps New Model 1863 Cartridge Converted Carbine

serial #C6467, .52 Cal, 22" barrel with a fair bore that shows oxidation and pitting throughout but partially visible rifling. The metal surfaces are an overall dull gray patina with oxidation and light pitting throughout. The stock rates fair to good as-cleaned with a 1" chip behind the frame, a 2" crack to the right rear of frame, a 2" crack at the right rear of forend, a few scattered smaller cracks, dings and handling marks. Several of the frame area screws are missing causing the lockplate and butt to come loose from the frame when the arm is cocked, most of the upper tang has broken off and the saddle bar is fractured at its base. The lower tang screw is a replacement, the front sight is also missing, the forend screw shows slot damage and there is a vacant screw hole in front of the rear sight. A well-used Sharps that will make a good wall-hanger or restoration candidate. (208166-1) {ANTIQUE} (800/1200) SOLD FOR $747.50
